Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that is protected by law and regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), a UK-wide statutory body established by Parliament to regulate the chiropractic profession. The GCC check that all chiropractors are properly qualified and fit to practice. Chiropractors train for 4-5 years at Masters degree level in order to offer the high level of skill that patients deserve. Chiropractic care deals with problems and conditions that affect the spine and extremities as well as the nervous system, muscles and joints (the neuro-musculo-skeletal system). Chiropractic may reduce your pain, muscle spasms, and nerve irritation, so you can enjoy your life, pain free.
Chiropractic can help with Cervicogenic and Tension Headaches, Sciatica, Neck Pain, Back Pain, Minor Sports Injuries, Tennis Elbow, Postural Issues, pregnancy-related pain and much more. At Back in Shape Chiropractic, we work with a number of different techniques to ensure patients receive a completely bespoke treatment plan.
Treatment is very gentle and our chiropractors tailor each treatment to the individual as well as take into consideration age and medical history. Sometimes people can feel a little achy or sore after treatment, just like with massage but this is part of the healing process and shouldn't last more than 24-48 hours.
Something loose and comfortable. Men often wear shorts or tracksuits and women wear a vest and shorts or loose trousers. Gowns can be provided if needed.
This depends on factors such as the length of time the problem has been present, the motivation to get well, the ability to carry out home care instructions (exercises, stretches, etc) and the severity of the issue. Every individual is different and we will put together a treatment programme that will suit your needs.
For the more simple cases, improvements are generally noticed after just a few visits. For long standing issues, it can often take longer. We will advise you what to expect and whether your condition requires long term care.
There are many different chiropractic adjusting methods. Some methods involve the spine making “popping” sounds and some work with much more gentle methods of mobilisation. Some people need the type of adjustment that leads to clicking or popping. When the joint surfaces are moved apart rapidly there is a change of pressure inside the joint capsule which causes a bubble of gas to 'pop'. This sound is not significant and does not hurt.
Everyone reacts differently. You may notice an immediate reduction in symptoms or you may feel some soreness afterwards, especially if your condition has gone untreated for some time. This should usually subside after 24-48 hours following treatment. Ask your practitioner for advice on how to minimise any discomfort if you have any concerns.
Your practitioner will give you a personalised treatment plan. Studies show that patients who undertake consistent care in the early stages of treatment, get better results and recover more quickly. The first part of your treatment plan is to reduce pain and discomfort, and when this is achieved your practitioner can focus on rehabilitation and strengthening your problem areas.
Like regular optician and dental check ups, chiropractic can help determine potential problems in the body before they become a problem or become painful. Life throws many physical, chemical, emotional and mental stressors at us and our body learns to compensate in ways that can have long term, detrimental effects.
At Back in Shape we work with each individual to understand their personal needs. Some people want a specific complaint dealt with and then choose to end care once the problem has ceased and others choose ongoing chiropractic prevention and maintenance care.
The treatment plan usually aims to reduce pain and includes a rehabilitation plan to benefit your health. A patients medical history is discussed and considered in order to establish the best treatment plan for each individual.
At Back in Shape we offer highly qualified Chiropractic expertise at a reasonable price. We use a range of gentle techniques and offer a friendly and personable service to ensure our patients get the best treatment plan that is tailored to suit their needs. Our Chiropractors train for 4-5 years to masters level in order to qualify to work as a Chiropractor and go through rigorous training and experience to ensure they are capable of accurate diagnosis for an individual.
Back in Shape Andover chiropractors are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and registered with the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and Royal College of Chiropractors (RCC).
